Without further ado, the No Simple Road crew gives you.. Steve Kimock!
... so what is what are we doing? We just want to spend some time with you on Saturday. okay yeah what kind of what we would just like to have conversations and it's very open, we're not really scripted or anything we just like to see how everybody's doing up maybe not maybe not sure maybe yeah if some it's great to shop all you're gonna get this conversation I don't know anything you know you know a lot. Steve I'm not buying your and he's great you know a lot of stuff you know it's like I was so busy just trying to figure out how to play guitar what all that stuff was going on it I didn't know anything it's going really it well it's as a result I only have like really Jim impressions I think that we're in the same boat Steve my whole life is pretty much dim impressions were you know like %HESITATION what do you think over the tree might be where it we had conversation with reed Mathis believe it or not really yes because I was just you know just thinking that if you were treating what would you know and they'd be like maybe it's kind of like oscillation of light like you going really slow but in this day and night and so there's maybe a it's warm for a minute and maybe it's like a little chilly in I don't like this %HESITATION like this but you're not you know it's all gone so fast you don't even know what it is that's what we tali Keren said we talked well first of all I guess we should entered I'm I'm apple I'm Erin and I Mel Steve that yep mental apple but apple yes and Aaron Aaron and mail yeah and you can't see him but there's a big old town down here is no outlay by Mike you don't have to remember all of my needs hello wherein we talked we talked to reed Mathis this was like two thousand eighteen at high Sierra music festival we were sitting under a tree when we're interviewing them and we're talking about like that like trees you know you're you're in a spot your whole life and we're talking about that tree at the music class like you know that treaty get to several music festivals a year %HESITATION well and in the tree doesn't like it's not striving to be the other train it's not like you know worried about what it looks like that tree is not definitely not worried about what space that it's in and it's not just being there in the moment I think you're right oscillations of light fluctuations of temperature but they have figured out that through the mycelial network underground and the root systems that trees communicate with each other and actually shunt nutrients and if one trees being attacked by bugs they'll send home insecticides it's way and other stuff to help each other out there it's a collective yeah I was aware that %HESITATION I don't exactly know what to make of it well we're like other than any any kind of %HESITATION musing on like alien consciousness you know it just means your honor a lot of shit we don't that's how we started the interview right like a lot of stuff we don't know man yeah I'm the king I don't know well how about let's talk about what you do know because you definitely know how to play music no we know how to pretend that for sure you know how to do I enjoyed I will choose are enjoying %HESITATION I enjoy finding my way it yeah if you're lost half the time that's part of your legacy something like that but %HESITATION you know there are like will full kind of personification so the whole thing you know the whole idea of artists you know well that doesn't it doesn't feel like the process don't feel like what I'm doing mmhm %HESITATION I mean from a fan's perspective though Steve it's a it's a whole different animal because yeah well the fans see a person they see Steve characters %HESITATION he's you know doing this or is doing that and I you know I mean it I guess it's I guess it's fair to say that's maybe what they're seeing but you know I mean I'm I'm like free shipping this thing is a succession of feeling states that I'm attempting to balance while this stuff is going on Unimin yeah absolutely go to go to get like a go to a festival that is ten thousand people there you security units fenders and since all crew stuff you know and you have one chance to like do whatever it is you're doing which is really got nothing to do with any of it in a certain way that helps make the whole thing feels good you know and %HESITATION that's the tricky it's tricky do you do you find the idea of celebrity intimidating I don't know I guess I mean %HESITATION I don't know I'm I'm not well I I I will say this in the type of music that you play you definitely are known so I don't know what celebrity technically means but you're definitely unknown contributions make celebrities like if you you can't go out for breakfast is people budget yeah right but in in the people like that like you know Bob weir's okay it is you get to go out so as to many people our writers ten thousand close personal friends yeah at every show everybody knows I could I could stop anywhere United States out of fucking diner Gary our cattle and ice cream Derry and go sit down and everybody just assumes I'm driving a truck okay that's kind of nice to be anonymous then it's not stuck yeah well how did you manage to pull that off what I don't I don't it's just the way I'm looking second like a guy from Pennsylvania in Pennsylvania so it's like there's nothing to hide right yeah it's it's the thing is like when you're doing what you do Steve N. you're providing the access to an experience that you provide for all of us because that's kind I mean you're sharing your experience with us and taking us inside of it that's that's what's happening so well I mean that's that's that's that's part of it in it there's just this other bit to where where the basic framework of listing %HESITATION is put the kids to bed and then it gets around soccer you know change you know bang on a drum and play little grab assn I also I'm it's got %HESITATION yeah that that kind of gathering that's been going on since you know I mean there is that was probably happening before language so it's like that's just that's just what we do you know and I think that's cooler that's cool to me and the idea that I'm doing something we all do because we have to check export well that if if the last it will be the last two and a half years have taught us anything one of those lessons is that the experience that we have together is essential in the whole the whole the whole idea if there's community fellowship brotherhood gathering you know like mindedness a safe place so much to it's a central and what what was it what we said this minute about putting the kids to bed early and then you do your thing %HESITATION obviously you didn't put your son John to bed very early on and it picked it up but man who's gonna use that its own thing I tried putting that that his his very first gig was with me to tell you how long ago it was it was it was moral Saunders okay and he was like I don't know it's like the lawn or something like that it is in the stroller and you know they got those blue baby but White House yes right so he's got it but white tubs duct tape either side of the stroller the drumsticks and all you see is stronger side stage with the sticks coming out you know playing on the but what to he's been at it for a long time he was good then wow one that will eliminate your jackets he one of the very best musicians I have ever met this is in the C. you play I mean that's got to be something because for us it is to see when you guys played together on the same stage a man as a father that's gonna be like one the best feelings ever to look over and see your son just killing it %HESITATION yeah no no in in in in I I don't I mean he's been there almost every note that I've ever played at eight AM he really knows what I do what went he decides that decides he's gonna save the drowned rat just picked me up and carries real well and there's I have a twenty seven year old daughter Anna almost twenty year old son and the moments that I've shared with them in live music have been some of the highest most just moments that I've ever shared with them so I can't even imagine exponentially doing that with my kids and sharing that experience with them with that would be like of like adding up to the thing and letting the little tricky because active active what well I'm you know in complete disbelief that might incredible good luck there's no way to really express that correctly you know on stage in the moment or office I am I am just I mean I'm I'm not alone with my amazement what is inexpressible your the kids yeah there there it is yeah I I can well and also he has given you probably the greatest gift that we can have is it in penny having a great grandchild enemies that's that's you we just became grandparents to mantle yeah well I mean there's there's there's there's so there's right to censor %HESITATION you know on that like promise for the future level and and and and one is that the children any others just you know picking up the torch yeah as as as musicians at the end of the day I really got to do is like just trying to gather as much as you can of what seems to well you know what makes you feel like music and pass it on you know all right I passed up on I feel good about where it's going to feel good about where it's going with it you know and %HESITATION music level and I feel good it works going on here's what it is so yeah I'm I'm I'm real I mean it is a it's super important to note that and we move so fast everything is always going so quick in in the world that we live in today it's I don't know man to step back and have that kind of gratitude for the gifts that you have in your life and like you just said Steve you like I am incredibly lucky just that alone I think speaks to the you see this like the where the music is coming from inside of you it really does speak to that place and that it's not it's not an ego trip thing it's a I'm sharing what I have because I'm grateful to even be able to do it yeah well there's there's a some parts of this are known to you know up and one heart it I think I know is that there's a lot please you know that you get to a lot of times that you get to in in music dance you know similar to crashing your car or first kiss or stuff like that you know we're just time just stops in your remote and that completely in the moment thing I don't think I don't think your ego right involvement or awareness that happens along with I mean I don't think there's any to Allen the whole point of that of that yet state of great step flows that minor state of grace to get with music or with Crowder with a group of entrainment by students and it's all like happy right then and there is no other stuff going on there's no thinking about anything else there's no stinkin sentences it's just William Moore I think that is so I think that's kind of the goal and I think that you need to do allergy yeah the company's ego thanks that space for zero comments got to stay away from if you want taxpayer and that's why I wanted to yeah the location of cheating death working part time stops well that again Steve does it happen to you on the other side when you're not playing and you're participating %HESITATION I mean it as it as too a listener yeah yeah do I ever in my richest immersed in it to the point where there's no forwards or backwards yeah yeah yeah but I mean that it's also kind of %HESITATION it may be a little contradictory kind which something I work on I try to do that I want that to happen yeah so you have to kind of I the way we live yeah we talk about stuff so that with the way it you know like you know social media culture and everything Sir stuff up it's rock %HESITATION it's very rough it's it's not it's not good %HESITATION it's not like our our our thing is is designed you know like the world around us is not designed you provide us with peace of mind what's that what are you talking about all right in this is all you have a greater worry it's like you know and stuff that I'm talking about you know they really stop to please me it's the antidote it really is the antidote at least it in my life that's what I found like that eighty I used to think that it you know like that that was %HESITATION yeah look where we're going with this you know because I was as old enough to see that you know two cycles will be in on the tail end of not wanting to go to Vietnam right and you know S. I saw that kind of culture time in music right %HESITATION you know kind it seemed as if it was pointing the way to a more conscious you you know not happy thanks well fuck yeah well yeah this is a Steve just said what I like to think that it's still in there somewhere or that still a possibility you know or destitution arson tipping point for a sick little bits you know of enlightenment here next everybody where maybe we get past the justice willful destruction of each other planets with I don't notice that's good I you know when I was a kid somebody was explaining to me a I don't know maybe it may be a bit by bit reference to in the old Soviet Union yeah when people are in power they don't voluntarily stepped down well here because I give up this power it's cool man I'm done dealing with that now so %HESITATION but regular people like me you know we won't give it up well I think it's ours login now hello and if there is any chance you know that the great care kids are gonna have a world to grow up and it's not just like some postapocalyptic basically we just have to stop turning the lights off and parked the car and nobody wants to give up that power everybody wants six fucking bat researcher castle you know they want all this stuff and then they watch the world go in basket get figure out you know it's B. it's the tent next year carton rate don't do anything else and maybe at or maybe you know a hundred years we won't be free you like that you know I don't be a bummer but now I mean like like there's like eight billion people need just unplug right now if there's any chance you know and you know that it various governments you're rich people are going to two seconds left what we do is lights off and sit with our group that's right well yeah he's he is %HESITATION I don't you it's it's a huge thing it's it's all encompassing and make it what you're talking about is that like the two we knew get center of a lot of psychedelic journeys that I've had you know what I mean and and %HESITATION being part of the problem means also that were part of the solution because you can't have one without the other they both exist in the same place at the same time equally and like I I wonder if in this this may seem like grandiose or silly or whatever but in my mind I feel like the experience that we're all having together communally when we see the musicians that we love play when that thing whatever it is it's happening and we're all in the moment together that really is the antidote to what you're talking about that can create a wave that can ripple outward and cause change and like you said it's not some high minded ideal of like you know I'm in a take acid show and dance and then the world's going to change it's it's more several than that it's it's energetic it's that tipping point that you're talking about and I think it's marvelous I think I think it's just a chip %HESITATION I don't know you should be speaking of not knowing that something is really true I don't know the truth but I suspect that if you wanted to change something in your life that the right way to do it would be you just become aware of it and where do you want to change and then every day maybe you do something that helps to move that along you know but it's it's the awareness %HESITATION %HESITATION you know desire for change that creates change because at the end of the day you know it's not it's not a you know thank you couldn't take you know whatever like all the people at the gate and just say look at feel Bangor had to cancel some change because it's not right there is no there is no direct using direct action at the active part right H. it's a part of it it's it's set to where conscious something or just the idea that you know it please change we manifest you know bye bye just being conscious of the need right yes absolutely because at the end of all of it the whole world and everything in it is all contained in my experience I am I am the camera and the movie and the director off the same time N. if my experience changes of my perception changes then it stands to reason that the world outside would begin to change along with me because this is all just is there isn't even anything solid out here everything is Adams that aren't even together man and this is all being decoded by some weird computer that's stuck inside of a meat suit yeah I don't believe that I think %HESITATION I think the idea that we're living in a simulation well it's an interesting idea like only six only somebody right now could think that that was even possible okay that's fair yeah you know like in another couple hundred years as our own technology gets better we're going to go you believe people thought that that's how it works and in a hundred years ago nobody would give me a fucking talk about yeah I think I think I think the simulation statements is so we're just point our history where there's lines crossed where it's like oh yeah maybe that happened but you know in a little while ago on not knowing shit right now hello but what do you do what do you do with with all this like I I think what do you do with knowing or thinking you know something yeah with with what you're talking about with that leg braces Manley is huge and and to like play music I remember remember when all the shit started back in Ukraine and stuff we had a conversation with Jennifer Hardwick okay and I was like the day before I've been thinking about how do we like go celebrate in the midst of all this shit happening you know how do we go to festival in like you know dance and singing and banging the drum and dance around the fire like with all this awful shit is happening now and it is always awful shit going on everywhere all the time it doesn't mean you stay home but in that moment you know talking to her I was like what we do and she she had a great answer for me she was like doing that right now is more important than ever well yeah yeah no I I I agree with that %HESITATION we're just not in a position to to thank you S. much of it as we like right it's crazy the way invention inspired to make you know like gathering dangerous and so in in in in in places you know what you get I had booked where because of a like restrictions on venue capacity for Cisco well you could have fifty people yes I do I can't swiping from the east coast of great American music hall for fifty tickets now when possible I mean I want to come to San Francisco I you know I can't draw enough crowd paper to air shop on a career that wasn't already offering large margins you know that is kind of sad back handedly stifling you know because it's on the we're trying to be safe but then we don't have anybody around the venue to be safe for to his right leg okay you have like a ten or so when I walked around Cape %HESITATION is that kids in school right right and they're like well you know we're not going to we can just can't be home for you know like a couple weeks but and I was like you're gonna be on for a couple of years you knew this is not going to go this is not going to quit I could see it time you know and I knew I've been working long enough to know how really chaotic the whole scene it's you know at the please stay you're sensitive dependence on initial conditions right to object just exactly how it starts in an hour grows out you know comes together all interaction there it was it shut off it would never go back to work something would grow back in its place sure couldn't was not possible for me to think that it was before you know and we're still in that I mean I'm still nuts %HESITATION what is this now really yes our I don't know how to forward %HESITATION %HESITATION with the expense is not known people there say people not want to come show which is going to get sick just like the whole Syrian vendors and crew and you know agents motors but despite what people may crumble it is gonna be doing something else with all the trick is really very we I mean we went through it Steve like we have a we have a music podcasts and live music podcast that that N. when all this happened it was scary for us in an not to mention like the whole idea of identity being wrapped up in what you do and not being able to do that thing I got lucky to much identity be get yeah it you know %HESITATION yeah guy with the calendar hot right now home when I wasn't able to perform and I didn't have people around because really used to sixteen what six sixty seven October what Steve October far right on your birthday buddies ten five fifty five ten eight nineteen seventy eight %HESITATION that's right five so anyway %HESITATION excuse me I lost my train of thought I will tell but your ID I didn't talk about identity is not having one I couldn't there's no people around the people runs a sense you know teenage mischief I've always been like a room full of people and certainly there's no people okay there's none that are expression so I got a real good washing dishes Berman baking bread in but then I just started listening more to music yeah I need listening my my musical life the point of my musical life was to listen not to try to space it out it was awesome like this is hard time it's just been like research listening every possible thing that can really really enjoying their final all kinds of cool stuff today Mr no because when you're I mean if you're a musician in your stage may get in the car the end of the night go tell their mission they put some music on radio shack yeah all right is everything just sounds like you know everything just sounds like a twelve inch speakers are you don't you don't need it and then you're you're all your listings for work no right thank and so you you don't want to do after listening to women when you know when the work listen evaporate it actually and that was a wonderful man I'll be standing around a standing house of middle of night just like we are listening to whatever it was you know %HESITATION Bach cello suites here are really a cop %HESITATION arts it is just a matter of just like listen burl has occurred watch so you made lemonade for sure you W. dot scoop two lots of project asking what's Ali Akbar Khan yeah lots of music lots of preserving this watch has also cast lots old American blues which I dearly love that's cool you gay became an avid listener lots lots of not too long the luxury modern our European classical music to internet you know French impressionistic Cranston J. B. C. in two hello Interbit it's a it's a Charles Steve like it have almost every musician that we've talked to that this subject comes up of like what we did during that time everybody got a gift everybody got a gift out of that we spoke to like some thing came to them that was missing or absent or not able to be gotten to or whatever it was N. in my purse from my perspective like now that we're able to go to shows again and see the musicians that we love like the experience of seeing the music has completely transformed for us because there's a there's a level of gratitude that's there that wasn't there before there for that for being able to do it and %HESITATION believe me yeah us too man and like I feel like all the musicians that we've seen because they receive whatever the gift was our pouring out that thing more home it's a cleaner vessel kind of a thing like a conduit is not well yeah I mean %HESITATION amis last couple years have been a mess but do you know the previous life was a fuckin rat race L. O. N. and the I don't mean to appear unpatriotic but America is a shitty place to start for your art you know all yeah sure each year each year places in the world to like pick up a guitar put out a call you know and and and and be okay Erica is not kind to do which ours which is weird to say that you're right I think everybody I mean everybody do you rate too you know what I mean %HESITATION but I'm a bit about your recent people who were really up on the camp just want this thing happen you like with your careers the whole thing you know you know gone straight up and in fact I feel bad I feel bad for everybody probably deal with it at all I know some people are more effective it did not but you know %HESITATION on some level obviously a lot of it should be a little break and maybe this wasn't a break we're praying for well once we had it a chance just to sit down for a minute and and in a letter some of it the frantic energy trying to keep up with our own scene let let that go not to be too in other good stuff you know not to be too silly but once in a while you get shown the light you know that's correct M. A. N. what did that does think that's what's weird now you looking navigating what we're in now is kind of tough because a majority of the world just wants to to go back to normal like it was before we just got to turn everything off and enter Flack and think things out and learn and a lot of people didn't and they just want to go back to consuming and the the oil the gas our batteries and it they want it back to normal so we yeah I feel like we're kind of up against that fight in a way lately people this is this was a chance to turn everything off for awhile and I just want to turn it back on and more nothing but chances and that's that I mean if there's anything about this in this office is that every time there's some you know even remotely are in a significant geopolitical kind of thing going on %HESITATION sure cost they're supposed to be running the show go the wrong way you know what I mean like us I mean all all all all all the way back with it you know like that yeah it that first Iraq war into weapons of mass destruction later six you guys are idiots for just to clear war on oil only problem you know what I mean just say Hey look we'll show you you know %HESITATION we know where your oil all sorry we're just not gonna sell anymore or and we're going to figure out a way to do you know we're gonna use our our our technology to figure out a way to replace it you know which we already have if you're trying to burn some oil we're just gonna drop off fucking bomb on it and that's the end of your bullshit as she and your money it's you and your chair is a nasty and there's United States strategic interest being Mideast oil if we if we just turn that back instead of the problem here isn't you know people try to religion it's not not anything it's just oil is wouldn't be in the mess that we're in today and that was a good that was all also available in as an option but people don't know we won our oil you want to right around we want like there's too many I mean somewhere right now their second uncountable number of you know twenty something people sitting in tonight it up trucks zero miles to the gallon is highly H. of red light traffic you under way is from store to get like just this shade of lipstick or two point five mil bag instead of a two mil back or something like that it's just like what a waste it helps the world do it yeah yeah in our own way for sure but let's go back to what to what you said in the beginning man it's the it's identifying the issue inside in deciding to make a change and then stuff happens that's the seed the plants you know that's planted in the garden that can wait a minute it's just pot it's it's it's so hard to do I could rig owners eight give me a water it's a plastic bottle well you know what that was what I wanted either but are thirsty thank you yeah you drink the water and then you know the plastic goes into the ocean or pool halls for some but his role how to make an island man yeah I back to the music being something that can create change we we had spoken to Henry Kaiser you weeks ago I love him he's he's amazing human being N. we had a discussion with most of the talk that we had with him was actually about darkstar well that's good yeah forty five minutes to talk about dark star was really cool what yeah welcome but it is what we were talking about was like how those songs particular songs some of them not all of them are can be entities it can be a you're less playing the song then allowing it to happen you're the conduit for the thing and in my Lake weird demented imagination I like to think that those could be angelic and that those things are coming to do good here and to help us raise consciousness N. to see the plastic bottle when somebody hands it to us you know where I'm coming from he yeah I mean I I I I get that as of I can understand I understand that it does have a point of view that someone could talk to bill and believe in it right do something with it %HESITATION you know which which I think is is I mean that's all that's all ultimately what we're going for doesn't matter what your understanding is it matters if you can it often becomes actionable in some way actually Phelps up up HM a yes you know the actual what it is it's subjective right right it is nothing objective about it listen that's completely in your own I had to stick it out of it's not objectively jelly right but if that is yes you know what is that %HESITATION no but if but if it's if it if if the if that's the best that you can hold on to that allows the rest of the things happen then that is absolutely necessary it %HESITATION hello this isn't exactly where the entire provisions going but but the idea that the music could be something it's like that might be a good idea did you ever it are you familiar with the idea of a of a flat lander member that little science fiction you can a guy like a two dimensional being %HESITATION well from the perspective of a two dimensional B. what would it look like for three dimensional being to that plate right right you know so like here's two dimensional guy Flatley right and then three dimensional drive runs through these dimensions and so first he sees like just like this chicken finger kind of thing and then there's the spiked slice or see it you know it's like this completely crazy looking stay the same the station was thinking that maybe at least close by after two there's just all this stuff we completely nonsensical %HESITATION any talk about that let's talk about music when I heard that is it yes I did too much acid it I imagine that music itself and just as the manifestation of it in in our you know consciousness is pretty much the same as a higher dimension solid passing through lower to minimize you know are universal and all this stuff is happening it's not like %HESITATION which decision is also connected structures one great big things just turning but you know I seem to like the music is itself well it's higher dimensional thing did we just get these slices off you know shocking yeah yeah yeah I think that's probably not true well what it is that it allows me to appreciate certain things about certain things and justify certain things and %HESITATION I think that a lot of people that do what I do our our our do anything where they've got a focus like in areas like in in a in a in a real specific where athletic batshit crazy ideas about a lot of states it's just part of what %HESITATION it's just like along for the ride for what allows him to do what they do the cops were taken out you know select like Aaron Rodgers you know with his crack it back she thank you can't reveal I think you were cool you know think about how to go Easton dots I think we couldn't do what he does if he wasn't dots that's what you have to be literally to like play ball that love I don't know it's just it's just it's just kind of trick yeah when you say something about how your echo angels okay well do you do you gotta believe you know you gotta believe all kinds of steaks to get anyone thing to work well you know in languages such a poor and it's not what when things are as subjective as they are yeah and been touching more talking about the ship with noises from our mouth is difficult to begin with thank talking about ineffable experience do you know what I mean like states of altered consciousness that third we don't have the language that fits that stuff it doesn't work it's turned their not there was no in particular in it I think English in particular is might be what's the best for because it's so would you call me you know Picto descriptive right the the black cat is on the red chair yeah it's good for that good I mean I think that's why why is it so widely adopted real world good language thanks you know it's such right yes but put it right and ably brought up Aaron Rodgers and like like like people that because that's like celebrity you know he can't go out with Peter recognized and stuff but in the world we live in now like that you got to be so careful what you say one one one sentence out of your mouth can ruin like an entire career but because of that there's no understanding left in the world there's no openness for seeing the other side there so much division it that that's kind of scary that the what ignited the cancel culture you can say one thing about something and then all of sudden your canceled and we don't like to be careful about it I kind of just trying to get it in another country on the other there's all kinds of words like that things like that we cancel cultures I don't understand yeah I just I don't I don't I don't get it I'm I'm looking either not enough involved we know a in the contemporary yeah I guess I'm just not enough involved everything is lots of stuff happens a go what is that it's called %HESITATION made up sold up bullshit Steve on social media plays into that %HESITATION go ahead cancel me on social media the the social social media said I don't do much of it I I I tried to do a little of that at one point you know I try to dissipate you know in various forms you know just like on a technical level for musical stuff better and I couldn't even do that %HESITATION to I too much of a budget it's okay man I am with yelp it is that's a that's called being in they're easy to catch you know one man eight it's like we're saying the beginning everything is so fast everything is so like sound bite driven and like clips in front the find the space where I can connect with musicians at a show where I can feel like I'm part of the crowd where I am experiencing music in the moment is the biggest joy to me in the world because of how fast and crazy and weird everything is now like that is I've said to these guys like in those moments where were at a show or whatever I feel the most me the most comfortable calm yet comfortable the most Adaeze there's no level of anxiety like you said their time kind of stops there's no yesterday or tomorrow it's just not yeah I I I I I look at the ticket there too but I I %HESITATION it's a little bit the gate stain he leading up to some of those books to actually get to get into the sound check for the challenger you know it's like it's really pretty kaleidoscopic and end up I guess what I would have gotten good at who yours is I'm okay with all stuff is all this craziness I'm okay with and it doesn't put me off my game you get up there and it I tried to do what I do is just get out of subway mostly %HESITATION but I think there's there's other stuff that I do that's it goes slower you know or just more in a more private jet a bitch I feel more like myself just because it takes so long for this stuff to unfold there's a creek down the way %HESITATION Jacobs Berg park creek and the it's summertime in the stock you can use these little fish if you sit long enough with your feet more water the fish come over and start the the skin off so the sweet this big isn't quite finished and also new look down he's gonna sit there for ever and then you look down and there's three of them and then there's six of open and there's like you know a couple of fishing does in the that's cool in their salons where you can pay big money for that you know what yeah well where I live the discussion you're now a pay four hundred dollars for that yeah and any other thing that I did the other day that I had done it for a while she had thought that was it but there's so there's a bar con the record is called the eighty minute rock it is a forty minute a lot which is just extraordinary it's so good the we put something like that %HESITATION you know %HESITATION we just have to be still let it happen after a couple of minutes to get a great great SpaceX you know I'm I think one of the problems that people have a right now with the media it's stuff gets like scroll through so quickly hello there this little bit of that you know like the kids are in thank an right come with me okay this is the spot off and for two seconds on the screen somebody like walks outside and it turns around and it's like it's nothing happens it's terrible you know it's like that you know with the music and everything so so queer is I don't know what has to happen if people into that longer is it a longer experience with but it's it's it's final and I think the I think they're just listening to more music problem listening to your %HESITATION helps to what's conceded but bring it up Ali Akhbar Conde you you're you've listened to and are aware of that that Housley foundation the bears sonic journals what's it will grow %HESITATION a okay specially you would love the you need it the Housley foundation hits his son starfinder %HESITATION yeah okay is that they've been put upon these old reels of bears %HESITATION and digitally transferring them and it takes a lot of time and everything but there's one that's alley are parked on the recorded in like that sixty nine or something N. N. yeah yeah yeah that was great error for the concept yes everything they put out they just put out they put out a Johnny Cash one that was G. it you know June and Johnny like going to the bay area and that these recordings are just magical the the the name of the album I have a rare it's bears sonic journals that which colors the mind Ali Akhbar Khan yeah yes he goes down up yeah it's beautifully done everything there but now it is just amazing and of course like there might everything just so when the the recording is very specific and when you listen to this with headphones on it's a teleportation of you're on the stage like in the middle of the stage with everybody around you yeah no I mean I get that that's great yeah you know Steve I what I really appreciate about you is like you're going back to the simpler stuff like you were talking about well if I can't really play music I'm gonna listen to it and that is you know I you said something earlier about action you know kind of creating a change and sometimes it's small actions and you know being somebody who's always so like you know somebody's always trying to fight or an activist or somebody who's always trying to make change I respect that but sometimes we need to sit down and be peaceful and that is also an action item and I just want to thanks thank you for saying that %HESITATION reminding me because we're always so in the going caught up with everything and just having time to sit down and listen to an eighty minute Rago that is that's finding peace in the world right there and I just want to thank you for reminding me that because I I can get caught up in like action items of what to do and how to stay or become peaceful and all you really need to do is just relax sit down and enjoy those music is healing music is medicine and so if you sit down and allow that to hit you with the right way you can be a little bit like brighter in your day so just thanks for that well you're very welcome yeah I I definitely I couldn't have gotten through this last couple years without a lot of it really it really it it it helps you know I wish more people could not I wish more people could experience the the benefit of it because I really would and and I I hope that we get enough the the pandemic and and and so the difficulties were having with the our economy in the people feel like getting together and taking that time just to you know just to hear be together and to feel good district you know it brings positive energy M. this is a world world is a measure the Senate and it's not just us this time you know sometimes it's like while the United States is really to open its pants and then you look around it's like well not just us we're all over the place the humanities pooping his pants what do you what do you what do you do what do you do you know you know out of account on on one hand it's like well what are my options here you know go shoot a politician Martin could listen hollyhock Barker right the latter try listen all the artwork on one more time I actually do he exactly he actually going to do about this you know and it's I you know I mean I don't know with everybody if everybody all at once just was a little bit better of a person you know maybe just think starts to change everybody was a little less upset or a little less pilot you know the less ready to blame a little a little more respect there firemen in a brown gotta go ten the part of the garden you can reach that's from dust does that mean I thought I would share it again ten the part of the garden you can reach the right and then everything will be cool man Steve I am really excited to see zero here in Portland Maine even I was excited before we spoke but %HESITATION Hey zero in the Pacific Northwest disco rock that that's that's where that's where we that's where I cut my teeth that's where we got her really the extent that we have got any shit together at all we got it together in you know corporate G. but why why was it here because we could drive there okay yeah there yeah like a veteran yourself in San Francisco you know it's like so okay you know our look I'm not a rock star you know so I've I've I've you know we're we're just we're just growing pot %HESITATION %HESITATION rock band you know in a couple of populist and you know you go okay let's go somewhere it's like where do you want to go to Los Angeles no no north north north the signal will go yeah so tell right on and I'm stoked Steve so yes so there well I just I love it all all too they're just energetic yeah that was a is a great time for us I'm looking for to go back there and to the extent that I've been able to get back lost your every time I get back to the Pacific Northwest anywhere it's it's been good so I'm I really look right and I promise I promise I will keep you guys brought okay a lot Hey well you're gonna be playing with the Aladdin theater here in Portland which is just a cool little trippy video that like dome it that it's going to be awesome in and Hey the whole like not being a rock star thing I know they're closer to one the night I know that I know the pain on the road is is not fun and especially doubly so right now and if the better deal on the street I agree I've been there I've been both places actually this is meant to my life the way that you just put things is I love it simple easy I love that about if when you're up here if you need anything if you need a place to hang out you know before the show or do you need to come smoke some good we once once I once I get there you know %HESITATION I'll be too busy you need an incident offers are limited to you that's a great deal of it what a gem event right I'd appreciate you spending time with us today as well as the wonderful to be here with you and do this I I I never know what to expect us either some kind of like a like a interviewer press or something like that I tell these graduation you know don't ask me I don't know anything about it I know how I feel at the time now I don't remember you can roast I would I have a nose to the grindstone so hard tonight respected by most of the stuff that people want to talk about well I'll back in the day as well so this new yeah no shit I'll say this you know we're fans of the music we're not like reporters or journalists and we got fortunate to be able to talk to the people that we go pay money to see and enjoy so when we get to talk to you there's no agenda except to hear what you have to say today when I hang out there is kind of like going to a show it makes my job easier and exactly and and it fills our heart is not really because you know we got to just get into your head for you know forty five minutes an hour and and we already love your music we already know that and so it it really just kind of it brightens our day and soul and it makes us more excited to go support you out there so that's the whole agenda really is a little better well thanks so much well in in in in a in support of whatever consciousness then we need to mustard to not just %HESITATION extinct your next little while then let's get together in the and gather and try to do whatever consciousness raising comes along with the good to be around people a lot yes my number I guess as disappointed as as one of throughout their for what it's worth Steve you are you you know we we don't want to make you a celebrity or anything but you mean a lot to us your music has been around this long time yeah it hurt when your son John we had him on the show him an error and communicate quite a bit and a you guys mean a lot to us and thank you for doing what you're doing and keep on doing that man we're we're here to support you in here I don't know how to do anything else right on what was going to ask because we started that way do you want to pick up that beautiful guitar just kind of played out also on Wall %HESITATION I love the you brought that in right away that's like your security blanket you know this of you know the difference between the involvement and commitment no well I'm committed right right it is but it's like it's like breakfast bacon and eggs check in is involved it is committed in this practice I am the pick that's that's that's why that's why I asked we all of their %HESITATION that's all I got delicious breakfast thanks for the bacon it's a great what do you mean he's at six AM yeah I yes I do you know if you D. did we even talk barely about music did you know at the end there that but this is what I'm talking about why no simple road it's dope because when you can listen to male tutor horn yes you can listen to the music show and not talk about music and still come out with a love for music yeah that was that was amazing I'm so full of the most like might I I my tear ducts are welled up would like to thank all the hair I said it was beautiful one to say to him he he we you like I know you're only like fourteen years older now apple or whatever but like can you be our grandpa to the coolest yeah dude ever and I and I love the I love that they that they kids approach to a lake and and like you said he's not he's doesn't have that celebrity staff he can still go out we can go you know it looks like a truck driver a farmer or something and and that let's I don't know I guess I let him be who he is and do what he does on stage and stuff but just did you like I mean I mean this sincerely to both of you can you imagine if we're just driving down to go to QFC you're gonna buy coffee and you're gonna buy a friggin ice and you cannot go in because people are Bob not bother you but you can't just be your normal self it would be rough it would feel good don't not feel good to know what when people like us we look we love Steve we love John all that when we when we inadvertently put that on them that's an uncomfortable feeling to have you know like dot isn't it doesn't feel good lately yes like in my my craft and appreciating my music and coming to support me that's different but when you're verbally or or emotionally putting that kind of pressure on somebody that is not I'm sure anybody nobody signed up for that even the the biggest actor didn't sign up for that kind of oppression and so I understand why people musicians really want to minimize that that kind of %HESITATION deification or or recognition in that way because it's like I'm trying to be normal and work what I love to do and your coming in my house bang and all this fanfare what what do you think that is in us because we've we've all done everybody sitting here is done it yeah I'm not with that no I know with with the with that like why do we do that what what the fuck is wrong with us it's like a it immediately my mind goes to tray right thank you lives in New York City he isn't driving all over the place he's walking I've seen pictures like he New York is a different animal he still gets it you know what I mean N. N. I would be guilty of that one is part of what Jerry really struggled with but what is that in us that makes us want to do that to them we're grateful that's the one of the first things they get think about like if a doctor save your kids life you're going to go to that document oh my god thank you so much for saving my life and the musicians musically save our life down they explain things that are happening like if we broke up with our boyfriend and they sing this amazing you know song it kind of saves our emotional life and it gives us something to hang on to it something to like I feel something intangible intangible you know I can play that music again I can play that song again and we want to do we're grateful we wanna thank them we want to like you know we're you know the checker at the store gives you a banana for free you're like grateful race so you want to pay it back but well if you don't pay back however we can you know with either applause or but in knowing that that we're invading well we that not everybody realizes that that's the thing yeah they sometimes and what's in a celebrity we while we ate in a way celebrity what I'm like not for them to know you and be like oh apple you're awesome I know yeah but but like to validate your respect and your admiration of them like yeah Hey man I love you I love your work or whatever and and so many times it collects so many people we talked to several musicians and other people we know friends were the one that you get that opportunity you're flail %HESITATION yes you like cook I you're awesome like you if there is a as you're in that like what you have built up to the greatness in your mind but he's gonna give us help us achieve a feeling of euphoria in any type of way one this how can you not be grateful and want to thank them and want to be like yeah you're dope you're amazing like those that it's easy to see why we can do it but I think especially for us because we are fans to help temper the with more a little bit more maybe respect for the craft instead of the euphoria of what we're getting our oil and that's it not that not that we need to change anything that we're doing I don't mean it let's say in that like that's why we're in a weird position three of us with no simple road because we're not journalists like you said now we're not journalists were not writers we're fans but we have the %HESITATION sort of looking for not ability the access I guess one way said to speak to these great people and then when we're like at a festival or at a show we have the opportunity to be backstage and stuff like that N. that's why I don't like doing that nearly like being backstage at a show or like the I don't that's the like he said I'm working my nose to the grindstone I don't want to get in the middle of that shit you know what I mean like Wharton for fuckin slowly came up to say hi to Erin before the show like on a specially during the show being backstage is one the worst places it's not great sound or he would be out front out the crowd out in the middle you know that yeah and I love the way this lately I love it I bless your heart Steve you're awesome man the way this started like he's like what wait for a great cause I don't have much to say everybody all we said that we started doing this podcast earlier much to say an hour is going to want to hear us we don't yeah and and some just incredible conversation and to get to know you know your view points and share ours and stuff and I think our show is perfect for %HESITATION artists like Steve who %HESITATION but he said I don't know what's going on I just showing up I I don't know what to say yeah he had does have stuff to say but he's not like yes on December thirty ninth we're going to be thirty nine here that that some way but you know what I'm saying like he's he's another war the musician he's focusing on what he does he's bringing what he does he's not about the other side of it he's not thinking about any of any of that he's doing his thing and Stanley said vocalist and not let me say this %HESITATION will bring it up to modern day you know so Steve's been doing this for a very long time but then we'll bring it to some you know I'm just gonna put Aggie out there because I would we talk to them recently and they have to be on social media and then after their shows different they're putting on their you know uploading their entire show like it's a different field even its music industry to different field now well together like a different level it's a different level that that's what that is because their whatever it Steve can say that he's not a celebrity only wants Davis celebrity waiting in our community Steve Kimock is one of the biggest names out there period one that like Melissa said it like a year when your car up and coming in you're trying to make things happen and you're younger you are a working band your working all the time has to keep that and to keep your image and everything and stuff like what I let people know about you Steve he was %HESITATION he he I'm sure he will wave still does working his ass off the beginning now he liked can't like he said now he's just he's a player he gets in there and does a he doesn't have to worry about that social media and all the things he's there and we're in this be who we is I feel like we're in the it's already started so we're not you know at the start but we're in the beginning of the evolution of humanity going forward and that means in every industry lake in the music industry that's were Tomah with Aggie or some bands like that they have to book themselves they have to make their own videos they are uploading their concerts they're making you know they sent out those in %HESITATION tapes and cassettes they're coming up with all these different ways to try to be increased awareness increased awareness fanbase stay relevant become relevant all of that stuff every industry is going through it like every industry has to kind of re do what they have been doing in the industry I work in at my day job is %HESITATION yeah another having to re figure out how to do business well even like fashion now it's got to be sustainable you can't just brick and eat like people are using recycled clothes to create new clothes now you know like saga that was taking the has taken you know hammocks N. repurpose them he made a jogging suit a Fanny pack a backpack and a %HESITATION a cover for a life vest for his girlfriend okay boom right there that's what I'm saying like because Steve's in been in the game my keys were working in an industry that is coming to and and in that way that's in transition transition yes they could well I that's one thing ending the way that he knows it and has been doing it for years and we're coming into a way where it's kind like the wild west again people are making it up what we could have just think about what we do we could have never just done this twenty years ago you know what I mean like we're just gonna decide to start doing interviews and record it and put it out somewhere you would have had to have a license with the FCC you would had to get a deal with the radio station you would have to be syndicated there would've could've done it yeah the game change yes on everything back then was a journalistic approach right yeah you had that nobody would have known you had to go to school to be a journalist I have a background to get that job and we would have access with that periodical or newspaper or whatever and then you take it even a step further we would have no access to any of the artists because you would have to go through agency agency manager A. R. people yeah I couldn't just reached out to somebody on Instagram there is no snow in there is no D. amino TL have days so in a way this is a huge opportunity not just for us in our field but for musicians fashion designers Blake car makers all of that stuff and the challenge is how do we do it sustainably and responsibly in your industry how can you do what you're doing sustainable and responsible where you're at how can you do hear it yeah so when you're buying all they should fucking mikes and lights and how can you do that more responsibly how can you like if you have a frigging you know %HESITATION cookie business how could you make your cookies more responsible %HESITATION yeah cookies again I'm hungry but anyway I don't know where I got that PSA from I just really appreciate Comox down home approach any is very heavy yeah he's heady everybody's come on there's a very few people that we've talked to in the almost three hundred something episodes that are not heady true I I just love the didn't see him there and who he is at it it makes me feel very comfortable very comfortable with it like I would love to hang out with him and it worked it was living or whatever it was and just have some cough shoot the shit or walk down the creek and stick my feet the water be quiet and listen Ali Akhbar yeah yes near I agree real Yemen well it's funny I discuss ads got a text from broke apple glitter Cappelli Brooke we're we're going to continue with it I'm just going to say this apple has such a fan club in DNA broke and Tiffany this is also not for all of you that are avid listeners of the show you she just said random names those are Mel's close female friend these are my lake homies this is my we have started a women's group the four of us it's called a coven well you can call it a day I will well I won't deny the coven part okay but what really it is it's about broken sisters building each other up and learning of the traveling pants and learning what's up together you know we're not a freakin professional anything but we're figuring shit out and it's dope your professional esthetician and eventual podcast okay what don't say you're not a provision I I'm I have profession your professional sister but what I'm saying is is that all of my girls love bug in apple's so much he's got it if they they love that he loves purple they love his Santa vibe everything about him and anything you do is well received some slim white I have a love affair could do they would tell you that today the the love that I did a dime this game for any they'll be yes we do them like yeah Ressam up braided hair put some whatever do it why can't I'm gonna be like okay I don't like well that's what I really what I learned about you to that I'm very willing and able thank you our yes I don't think we have Erin over here they won't do it but you will answer thank you yes when you hear that thank you girls the name broke me my sister Mel you you're all they're awesome women you know all right here's the here's what's gonna happen everybody let's are not done with the show we're going to continue on and take a short commercial break and then we're gonna come back and bring you more of us doing stuff have been kind to heady conversations mildly so yeah here is a word from us about our sponsor one I would like to have which you do if you want to get high you should get yourself no matter where your R. sum premium cannabis but you if you are up here in the Portland area you should come to defying premium cannabis where should I go well we have a location in Hillsboro and we also have one in forest Grove and if you come out there this is this is where I work at the five premium cannabis if you come in you tell us that you are a listener of no simple road we will get you taken care of we'll give you a ten percent discount we will give you a free T. shirt hell yeah yeah now we're talking close and discounts yeah and then once you get when you come the first time you're gonna want to come back again then you wear that tee shirt the next time you get a fifteen percent discount and I'm really generous so like if you happen to come in the Hillsborough catch me I'll probably give you a bigger discount Lana and other things to boot wow so come on by Hillsborough forest Grove defined premium cannabis and let us hook you up and get you feeling better I am not the next contest how do you know L. E. the next contest I sure am what are you add their ago mills got the attitude that's right he gonna win do you want to I just got my title and it made me feel so good to have the title to my own car okay mill your own now and I love her me in blue diamond she's the best we go to we literally go everywhere together melted out of blue Subaru and its name is blue the yeah her name is blue D. I'm sorry for diamond %HESITATION she's dope man and now she's paid off and she feels even better she told me that she wanted to get a detailed to celebrate yeah you should do that that they do I hope you all dug that conversation with Steve as much as we did we had so much fun Hey that was apparent yeah definitely a good time and Steve is apparent yes I yeah yes it was an apparent apparently it's a parent parent actually all literally actually it's also the reason we're laughing that's inside joke that our grandson's favorite thing to say is yeah actually %HESITATION so that's how it all starts now you're on the inside so it's been a it's been a heavy week for Mel and I am well I know this is about the crusty as I've ever felt post anything really yeah even after the new years in April run yes you didn't feel this crusty I didn't feel this crusty I felt crusty for sure I'm not trying to downplay my question is but this is yeah I I can see in Philadelphia too because yeah they got home Monday we're recording this now on Wednesday night %HESITATION you're gonna I'm I'm gonna be finding out a lot about their four day run at Dick's right now at the same time you are because they don't talk much about it when you guys came back from New York you're like shot out of a candy like do this that Wales and they haven't said much there were great at every bit of energy and then I just got my period right thank god literally right before we hit play I went to the bathroom and I well I don't have that excuse so it's just you know that takes design ops a lot of the energy so I think that may be something that I would have liked it gotten over quicker like that kind of took my energy so I'm just feeling look low and depleted but not emotionally I'm gonna be honest I I remember with the family Nathaniel said to me this weekend part of the fun of no simple road is us just being real with everybody out there and telling them what's going on we party hard this weekend I will not comment on that yeah right I believe we park all here's a hard this like he means him and all of Dexia yeah well just sat there and drank I just ran out of the water and smoothies all week and techno yeah watch to make sure everybody was okay no we partied really hard and we also party really hard at new year's eve in April N. I got to agree with you I'm I feel more busted up after this run than that and I think maybe it has something to do with being in the heat I don't know a lot of people forget when they're there too that's the mile high city %HESITATION mile highland like sea level down I mean our house is like five hundred feet but it's pretty much sea level around Portland a mile high ain't no joke do all it was the first night we were in bed we just gotten back I I the very first day that we flew there which is a Thursday I did not sleep on Wednesday night I could not sleep I didn't you're too excited I didn't want to not sleep like I wanted to but I just could not so I got up in the middle of the night and like left Aaron because I was tossing and turning came downstairs had every right out they thought that I was gonna like just two little yoga just do some breathing just try to get yourself to bed I like my mind was racing at lake it was a sprint and I just couldn't and so three thirty whirls up and I just go upstairs to take a shower and then we're all we're leaving by four thirty we're we're out of the house by four thirty to get on the plane and like that's how I started a four day crazy party hard trip it was like I wasn't arrested I was excited it was hot as balls it was lake it was a lot it was just a lot but we we like we did it we did it all there thank we podcast did with Osiris the helping friendly podcast down we did that on the Saturday tempted son live stream from the lot well okay let's talk about that really quick because the live stream we had planned on it you guys all heard about it if you're listening to the episode earlier and we actually did do that but what we didn't realize is with technology and house body it is you can't you can't move well you can't walk around and around an area that's got shoddy wifi if you get ahead shitty cell service and then and then think that we're going to get all this incredible information while we're walking through crowds like it just wasn't happening but we actually did do it and what we were able to do we connected and it was incredible and fun we even better view the nitrous mafia dude that was actually my favorite interview like for real he got all the blue boys that are running around you know and you say that like there these are gangsters little boys would gain stirs around I just got okay a lot of maybe everyone knows maybe but I grew up in the hood so when I see that I don't think gangster okay that's not what I like I truly truly don't think that I just they're they're just younger than me and they're like probably our sons and daughters age and so their their little boys will kid but no they were not little boys and little kids they were grown men if they knew what the fuck they were doing but what I thought was really cool was talking to them because we were talking about you know fish and and the law and so they actually wanted talk one of the guys wanted to talk you don't want to show space the interview with this hat over his yeah he had his bucket hat over spaces again I want to talk and I was like alright have you been to a show yeah he's been to show he was super store has it well how do you like it he loved it loved it super stoked on he's like man I I ended up coming home with two girls the music was fun I enjoyed myself and it was great what's going to happen and and I saw it this weekend a little bit was all these cats are starting to wear the clothes they've all got dancing bears on their hats are Grateful Dead T. shirts it couldn't hold in the game they're getting pulled into the scene by proxy and then that now they're going into the shows they're gonna get turned on by accident yeah well then this friend was like he was like yeah I've been on the show I was like yeah we're going to show you think when you talk about yeah give me attitude I'm giving it back in and he's like yeah I like it it's cool and so it was just such it was an amazing time to be able to do that S. two they had great guys they had they were they were being fun we saw them literally all week and I was like oh there are boys over there you know we'll throw pulled his there was actually apple's rising I'm hopeful that question because all I ever saw it because I got home I took off early on Friday and was happy too because I was home sit here waiting for you guys the live cast and it was it was going in and out is that you guys got more stuff that we're gonna build up but I know to listen to either one or two more days unfortunately we did not record and even if we would've had turned off the sound so we would have gotten engaged now it was it was supposed no thank you to both supposed to record it okay but it couldn't record because the because of the service was bad you could even send a text to okay yeah I was tough communicating with you guys and tell tell sign yeah but then you know you you start walking around so it was a bummer because we worked really hard and Aaron got super upset and then I got frustrated with him and we worked out fantastically but at the same time it it was a bummer we didn't get what we came for but we did do what we were supposed to do we learn we learn and we learned a lot and so next time you know we won't be able to catch the entire lot the way that we want it unless we record it and talk over it well our next year next year from Dick's we're gonna be recording from somewhere else like little spot casting for that we have a restaurant that can't be names yet but you know but I said it we really did it and I mean like we thank you that was fruit we sucked all the juice out of it yeah thank we did the whole thing we stayed up to five in the morning every night at the apple you would have loved it because I don't think there was a day that we didn't win never went to sleep before three thirty never gonna you guys did the whole late night every Thursday you're all good at that yeah that first night I was already up for twenty four hours that was a first I will go to sleep till six thank that was like and then we woke up to say like what noon or one o'clock and then to do it again in the Senate because that's what's up and I miss the most and not be in there love you nothing annual it would have been there to see you there but I meant what when you're staying with him the panel helps you to stay up late style %HESITATION so much fun to hang out with the then like staying with lake because we stayed with Christina and Fernando and then Netanya Ole and then Cody came in two days into the trip so we had a full house and we were all going together coming together you know coming back together so it's like you know not a party but there was a party it was a part that that's what made me feel good to not be rolled the president is that Cody took my spot on Saturday and Sunday and I couldn't if I had to pick somebody to sit in for me for anything it would be co he was funny with Erin and I had this whole like skip planned out when we were on the lot but we're gonna like introduce Nate then that Daniel ads like this new apple and like the heart of that is being played by myself and we never got to a but but you were well represented between Cody and Daniel that yeah yeah and you know when you go do a four day run like the first day they the helping friendly podcast had doctor Leah Taylor on and she was like we walked up and she was like giving advice on like how to take care of yourself for a four day run they give plenty of sleep archery make sure you eat green food you don't have to go hard every day every night and we we ended up podcasting with them on the last night when I sat down I was like and all that advice you guys gave the first night I took none of it hi this is a full throated right now but it was worth it to get what we got there mmhm yeah I will feel like this for the next month if it's worried about the next month but later Nathaniel well we're here right here right so if we just base it on that specific thing like nothing else but that specific thing that happened then yeah so I have a recording of him that we're going to play wow I didn't realize you were going to do that so soon but yeah I need to go in here yes so we'll we'll build it up and then right play it %HESITATION here's the thing like any any time you go to any shows and have a psychedelic experience anything can happen we are we're walking out on a ledge together N. collectively we're gonna have an experience and we hope that it's awesome in ninety nine percent of the time it is and it's amazing and and every once in a while you have a life changing profound experience that changes the course of the rest your life I you guys that listen the show of heard me talk about my first Grateful Dead show experience and how that changed who I am and made me who I am today and is the impetus in the genesis of no simple rodent my whole life and you know each and everyone of us that are out there that do this thing like hopefully you can relate to that in some way and you've had your own experience and gone on to do your own thing and and %HESITATION you know his listeners of the show we don't really get feedback from you on that we don't hear from you guys about that stuff to offer and %HESITATION we have a listener that's been a friend of the show is the almost the very beginning his name was Nate and %HESITATION we met through him sending me an email one day while he was listening the show while he was deer hunting and %HESITATION and you know this was so early on that we were still on the porch and at that time he said before Erin got the good Mike's at that time we were hearing from just a few people and so it was a really big deal when the show is eight oh of course it's always a big deal but like now we've got a few under our bell at that point we had did not have very many under our belt and so to hear that someone from Louisiana in a deer stand yeah it would literally in the active hunt mode listening to the show it was so such a big deal for all of us was like white so we became friends and and Nate and I have communicated over the years and he even came out in twenty nineteen he said it was twenty eighteen I think okay eighteen or nineteen I can remember to go to the gorge with us with him in his wife Meghan and and we had a blast and %HESITATION we went and took a green sky at red rocks with them last year in twenty one he hadn't had time with him and his wife at green sky last year but he had never seen fish N. M. this experience I'm I'm not gonna ruin the the punch line of the souls are you guys but but he did walk in one person and walked out another person and we were all a witness to the moment that change came I mean it was like a legitimate facial change there was something that was there at one point and then it was different the next moment in I have to say like you know we've been doing this for a while now and and he really %HESITATION I got a gift out of this weekend from him in that queue really reminded me of what we do yes what what like what no simple road really is besides us talking to musicians what's important about the show the conversations that we have with musicians are really cool and it's been an amazing journey but that's not all of it that's not even the import it's a four it's a fraction of an enemy like small medium large trash I just mean it's a fraction of what we do and having it in Espanol so articulately he and time sensitive like he explained what was happening to himself as it was happening as it was happening in an altered state with so much conviction N. N. love N. a lake fervor and it was just what Aaron just said that he kind of like showed us what no simple road is aside from like a bunch of you know fun conversations and interviews and introducing you to cool bads and stuff like that like no source no that's no simple road is the community yeah it's it that's all doping cool and that's kind of what we build it's kind of like like this you go to see if a show or any show for that matter and you're literally going to see the music but when you're there you're high fiving your friends you're making plans to hang out that next weekend your get your outfit like it's an entire thing and our interviews no simple road okay that's R. like meat and potatoes but there's so much going on with no simple road aside from that N. McDaniel sat there and explained to us what he sees and how we're doing that not just for him like specifically for him yes but like in general and it rung my bell it later it I don't know how I kept together and didn't cry I was was football Erin was bawling I had tears in my eyes but I was just like I think I was in shock because I could not believe people still hide yeah we were but like I was in shock it I just like how could he say this so wonderfully lake I would that would that was that was my shock was like it's not only words but its words with like energy and conviction and heaviness and weight and it was it's that moment in the movie when like the boxer is about to go into the championship bye and his trainer is like it doesn't matter how many fights you fought or who you fought and beat it's all about when you were in the beginning and you were on your way up when you're fighting your way against nobodies and it was that fucking speech and it was like oh shit is fucking right now he L. I don't know anybody else who can put it down like that for real I'm gonna go get it and we'll play well that it wasn't say something because of the that they and then the thing always been with us since very early on in the other beautiful things that happen from that is three of our listeners and family was down in Texas Alex Nolan in which he's in Louisiana and and the thing that's handle in Louisiana have become like lifelong friends they started meeting up it shows because of listening to the show we've always been really out of that and they've gotten so much praise from them and we just we love our brothers man yes so you know what I'm just gonna I'm gonna put it I'm gonna do it you sure do you think I mean I don't think that you shouldn't I just think the are we done lake is that it I mean you can well my point is why stop it now and you can insert it anywhere and like yeah look it up the glow okay yeah you're right I mean to there was a lot downtown yeah there was a lot it and mean it it was such a weekend of lake family and healing N. you know Cody coming and he's going through stuff in having his Cup filled back up so that he can be there for the people in his life that he needs to be there for and being with Christina M. Fernando and does to those to me are the sweetest human beings on the planet talk about an all star cast like if I win I just like had a moment alone and I was just thinking about like the fact that we were there and who we were there with and I think it was sat was a Saturday or Sunday that we talked to were on helping from the podcast Sunday so Sunday we sat down with helping friendly and we talked a little bit just about the tour and all that and stuff like that and they were asking about the fish community and and one of the things I mentioned I was like well you know no simple road has been blessed in a way that we're actually sit here and I meant it when I was in Denver we're we're in Denver and we have an Airbnb with listeners of the show only exclusively so it's like Aaron and I a and we're staying with listeners of the show it's not just that it was family it was it felt so comfortable and to be going to our third decks you know when Aaron and I went the first time buyer selves and really didn't know too many people you know who you know and then here we are we're we're taking meetings so you know we met with a possible sponsor before you know under sure Sunday show I love that we're taking medium is just so many elements of what was such a blessing for the weekend and you know it Erin and I an apple we're like a unit and so when apple's not around it's cool and everything but it's weird this didn't wasn't weird it was like the no simple roadie of no support family like picked up the slack and even more than that like put their own flair on it in in like it really showed me what that means like the no simple road family if you listen to the show your part of the no simple only and that's to the good sound cheesy or whatever that means that we all get to hang out together did you have you have a easy if you're part of the family amber early on like really early on when we first started the show and I would be like the only prerequisite for you to be part of the family is for you to feel like you are that's it once you feel like you're part of the family dot is your ticket and what we did this past weekend we literally networked one person at a time and we made deep connections with these people that we touch our entire row the weekend %HESITATION we all came back to the same spot every day so we can all hang out with those other after we met first tonight yeah because we had so much fun with the people that were behind us and in front of us and to the left of us that we were like same time tomorrow why why go somewhere by search for something else I know and like you know I feel bad we don't get to spend time with you know like this iris family on the on the page side but we just we couldn't have done it if we could never spend as much time with the no simple road family and and grown it the way that we did we everyone around us got stickers everyone around us knew what we were doing everyone around this came the next day that body around us we sat with everybody around us individually and connected with them on a fuckin Hey level at some point in those four days did you two ever do because you have for Saturday and Sunday went down for like two songs on Sunday because it the way I think about it C. O. yeah it was rad they went they had about security you had to like go to the stands you know and enter one way and if you're on the field yet to enter the other way so you know we did that and we just weren't I'm I'm never feeling the floor to be honest I I'm really not feeling the floor but I want to go down there for a second like that like you know I don't want to stay there all but I don't want to go so we did and we had an incredible late Tuesday on your guards and we know we didn't I wish I would have given him we I didn't have any of fell out of the bottom I always did yeah I was really awesome I would love to but I know of cilic to me it was like hitting the ground running and like handing people stickers and watching people pulling it up on their phone and like getting your lake downloading it or like subscribing to it or like even just looking at it N. right there you have men and it it warmed my heart lake really taught me that we are doing something legit we're doing something dope and like the more people that jump on it it gets finer and cooler that's the thing like I that whole section could have been no simple road people at that show it it I mean it after a five minute conversation I felt like I knew those people forever like Chris and and Meredith Meredith we met these two angel hearts you know right they were sitting in front of a state they look like a couple but you know some hope some white reason I the first thing I've met a lot look at them as they are you guys a couple it kind of looked at each other and laugh and they're like no we used to be but we're not a couple we just like laci music and you know we live near each other so we come we just drive together and they were three of the four days we hung out with them and they do every day Michael just chipping off a little bit more of like getting to know them and she was having a hard time with anxiety and I was talking to her about it and like she said she felt better like we just became family and walked out of every show together and hung out and partied lolly Silber these two were completely sober they danced their harder Natalie there man %HESITATION these off I mean they were hill in it they were eight that's the thing to lake you know I remember back in the days that nobody goes to shows over there there's no way there's a hell of a lot of people to coach sober and you couldn't tell one from the other you couldn't buy music is life like we always say you don't gotta be you don't got to be any kind of way to listen to I got one of those this this weekend fish brought the heat yeah these are incredible shows I want to say record for we got off as I I'm I'm I'm bummed I missed this one but not as bombed as I've been with other ones get I I'm positioning so next year this is not gonna happen again right or I miss anything and it's just not going to but like this one and like New York you guys coming back and I I like no simple road we're always together even when I'm not there because like you came back from New York we're talking about people now like when you guys go meet people provide you with something on my own and meet the fans of the show they are now family and I know I'm going to beat them and telling them eventually because that is our goal is to get out and about and be people on staff so now like that connection was made even though I wasn't there physically they know me now yeah they way I know them it's you know and to and to do we've built such a family now like to be for now in the Korean if Daniel where they're also not not really in my plate jokingly K. I don't have my place but but yeah I it just made me feel good it made me feel really good do you guys checked in with me every night as I said her home how much I had I had a nice time over the weekend and went to a party on Sunday this that but it meant a lot because I'm sitting here watching the set list pop up as it's happening and and I know I either have all do it separate %HESITATION right after I just wanted I just want to say for for %HESITATION because of our things that just that there's like three highlights that I was like oh yeah out there huh %HESITATION third Thursday night I was watching now under that but that Friday night when you called and it was the rain delay huh on Friday night and everything and then you guys didn't know at the time when you called me I could hear it like rain meaning you're explaining and it's like all they're not gonna get a show and then it came on at like ten o'clock and they come out with Corinne E. N. T. yep I was like because Erin's been like like that's one everybody chases and when I saw you M. pop up I just put my phone down for a little while I'm not looking back for ida body hanging out and I was like I'm not going to look back for a while and everything but then it just continued training with ghost after that and just gotten credible Erin had called earlier for Nathaniel music up yet you're gonna get it the night yeah well you got a tweezer artwork and and that was the show chasers do yeah it out talk to us %HESITATION but then the other one was then Saturday night that's I did the same thing I saw the first song started cracking up got up and danced for malware and no punch you in the audience that the error mail it Alan Ellen the names %HESITATION but that one I was like oh another hell of a show tonight and then the Sunday night show same thing especially for Mel I saw first too that's one of her favorites they've laid out today on my knees got a job %HESITATION you know that's one of my faves to which I don't even care usually like I do it all meant no I was happy with everything they dished out I would I did not care leak we were trying to call songs we're on help and friendly and you know it the whole point is moot because every song that they play is the one that you wanted it's amazing the only one I was jealous of which I'm gonna chase into is when they did no quarter %HESITATION wow I was like oh my god they don't pull that out a lot either on the way they do it well and that's that's the time that someone to go with and you have yet Nathaniel that was like the moment that that happened yeah it was why didn't know their entity told me the next day was like he was he's a huge Zeppelin fan and to get to see that this is that the part of those like you know talk about like synchronicity is in like our life in the show and whatever the music like you know fish plays covers you know he they do I remember they played I believe in miracles in her she that was when I was like what I don't know that they play the song so yeah you get these like kind of jams that you never know you're going to get well the th annual having you know for you know albums growing up three of which are led Zeppelin and now being one of his favorite songs when he was a kid not having a TV growing up without a TV listening to these albums over and over for him to get a Led Zeppelin song on that specific moment to correlate to that name change and all the feelings and things that were going like how does fish no they don't both our energies collective and we're there and we do show fish what to play they do listen to us is listening and we are all connected through energy N. whether you think it's wound bullshit I don't care it that's the truth man and it goes out and you have a magnetic attraction you have a field around you that's why you think it's somebody you haven't seen them in ages and you walk right up to him on the lot that's why that happens you see somebody you haven't seen in ten years or you see that same person you see at every show look you look out in the field at Dick's that place is thousand Italians and it's a literal sea of people so running into somebody is already one in a thousand that chance that magic is real yeah that right there is we have this rain delay it's Friday night we're sitting down we're just like be patient you know looking around next thing you know someone rolls up and say Hey that's Luke that's Luke we saw him in Manhattan the same exact waiting to he just walked up to us in the middle of a city with millions of people we met on Instagram we've never met he's like Hey are you %HESITATION to Milford no simple road in the middle in New York City yeah bots across to go to into Matt Madison Square Garden with lines and lines of dental then he comes and sits two rows in front of us at Dick's yep that that and then we is not coincidence with its universe putting pieces in place which one is that it had looked at at twenty seven thousand people okay look at that twenty seven thousand one one twenty seven house that's big crowd and and so that's why I'm like if you listen to the show you've heard me talk about synchronicity is and that's my language and I pay attention to it you can I there's no way for me to be myself and not pay attention to it Wells always so present we we'd called a Joe and Joe we were supposed to you know podcast with them and we we did with him I should say %HESITATION you know they hang up the phone or he hangs up the phone we were about to meet you know at a spot two seconds later he's walking out as we're walking in and it just there was no need to find anything %HESITATION and and that's what I'm saying everybody kept coming at us like that in this this I was walking without and on the shout out to Connor wherever you're at %HESITATION I was Erin was meet me somewhere else I was grabbing my drink walking by myself no coding no air no apple all I hear is no simple road like look up and this car you're super tall I don't know how tall you are what you look like you about seven feet tall Connor proceeded to be like man you guys must be so proud of all the stuff you do you guys got some kickass gas like you guys are always pumping out some good new music say hi to apple aired for me you guys are rock and keep Killin it don't stop doing it like a literal pep talk even like the span of like ten second I told you that's that's the like to me when I when that happens that's like the universe in the scene just like speaking through somebody to you eight eight eight absolutely it was like a message from we've all had that now because in the beginning and we were like like we are we are always very together everything we went to so getting recognized we were all together that's like there's a but now we've all had this happen that stuff because we go off on our own more and to get a public singled out like you recognize me without that's what those other two that's not my point is I feel like I'm kind of unrecognizable without I don't know and like I'm not trying to decide anything myself just like I mean like normal like brown hair is kind of short but whatever I don't have big boobs big smile like I mean I don't have anything this is any kind of like when you have a big beard yes like you and Aaron you have like a look you just bought your and so it was just like a trip to need to have that this is not the recognition who cares and talk about the feedback what he was saying that was just so I don't knows like the best report card I think we are yeah it literally from the heart he was stoked about our show and that made me stoked about him you know what I really like that like we all not fly it's like we put our heart into this and when we get the heart give him back yes ma'am %HESITATION okay that's what it's about and that look I'm not selling anything that's another you know looking for sale here you know there's no give me could really be all about like search and fuck in creating all the stuff that we're doing it a show and we're creating a family of my guys we friggin love you guys for reading score busk and we just want to let you know we've got to have out there is a way to help us out yet hear about it every week and stuff but we're you know we love what we do so much here's the bottom line like at least for me I grew up in a a really big family that I didn't want to be around that didn't want to be around me and that %HESITATION I was completely disconnected from my whole life and on the outside of and it really sucked N. I saw how close they were wanted to be a part of that but that wasn't for me N. my A. like dream growing up was to have a big family and and be able to experience that and I never could and I realized when we started doing those simple road and dis connections started happening with people that that dream was actually coming true through the show and so like that's the goal if there's any like goal of the show beyond anything it's that it's meeting you guys and having you become parts of our lives that we can have experiences with and know each other and help each other through this trip because this life is hard man and if we don't have each other we don't have shit and this community is rad there's fucking rad people in this community and I'm not just talking about the noticeable road family I'm talking about the wider music Addie and I want to know all of you and I want you all to be a part of our family so that we can go to shows together and go on vacations together and go do shit together and have fucking giant group will have do funny shit with men because this life is so much more fun doing things together yeah and that that's the thing that like is the bottom line of the show that right there and I love that and I want to say something to Erin here because what you just said this is this is like it like kind of in a nutshell T. like what he does said about his childhood and everything like that Minerva close our whole lives he lived with me for a while with my mom and stuff in ninety five when Jerry passed %HESITATION it but like a lot happened %HESITATION I moved away in ninety seven we'd we didn't see each other a lot for like ten years back Aaron went into our wonderful marriage with Melanie created a family you you are such a nurture you nurtured a family you raised kids your youngest is getting ready to move out which is a trip to see all of this happening the two of you are so nurturing I'm like a child to that they show can silence get ready to move out the end of this month and then they they joke too it's like we still gotta finish reason apple do it which is a compliment Anna Jo Canary hang on one but then to see what Hey like the way this happened with Simon and buying him the microphone and encouraging that it's just another part of the nurturing you too did his parents to raise these awesome fucking children and now all late it seems I mean we've been doing this for awhile but this last year this is really gained momentum in the families get a bigger and the train is going faster and at that that you know we all you did but like Erin is the last price that is for the show's last person and when we were growing up as kids there ever saw as being responsible and a family man and all this and you fucking crushed it brother thanks and even nurtured the show in the sub that so amazing and the last babies carried five in mass but now it's nurtured this family like you're just saying that how how fuckin big this is grown how we anywhere we go in this country now we are going to know people in that state in Spain with Fernando okay oh shit see like all these things but I just want to say that man love you brother for the NBA your fucking congratulations you to mail and everything your family this family that we're growing now we were we were at set break on like Saturday night it was the night that split open and melt I think Anna do behind me I gave me a sticker and he was like I had given it to him before the end of the first set and when the separate start he sat down he was like all right dude tell me about your show like how did it start and I was like all right so I told him I was like well my son bought me a microphone father's day blow by told local cable he was fucking crying at the end when I when I was done he was like that's fucking amazing that's fucking rad that that happened for you guys and that you're doing what you're doing with it he's like he's like bro I can fucking feel that shit coming from you guys he's he's like I'm so fucking glad I'm sitting here I'm sitting here to Trent %HESITATION when I was trying %HESITATION while trending battle for that when you decided that that was the one the Tribune because that was it Aaron was it was Saturday night the split open and melt when I saw that on the way from no quarter in two African Richard Strauss opus thirty that they did cover into split open and melt do that split open and melt the ice you gotta go online for you out there that weren't there if you have the opportunity go online look up the split open and melt from the Saturday Dick's this year and watch the light show it's the cream I usually it's that I've never seen no shit like that I don't think I ever will see any shit like that one in the on court with tracing in a megaphone fee yes I had a look that one up I want to really familiar with and the awesome thing about tree was his voice got stepped up yeah he's taking vocal lessons freakin great I used to talk shit early on like you know if you're like a leader Abed you should strike sound good like your voice should be good and talking all the shit and it was when we went to San Francisco where I put all my shit talking about his voice away and I was like I understand trees voice you know but then we get to Dick's this year and I was like whoa oh this guy's sake he's even better and one of the things that we talk about helping friendly was like how they just keep getting better how can you be forty years into something and you're not even the best you've ever been there not bad at playing the fucking what do you the ailing air the Indian casino now road like in the the the last world tour financially or does the are out there to just they're not they're just making money they're now they're bringing I mean they're making money and they deserve it they're bring in the fucking heat and I don't know if it's a it's a trip to see you Mel like any time we get back from shows like you do like I don't want to listen anymore fish they can put something else on in the car like the day after we got back mills listening fish in the in the bathroom which is get ready then I come in the kitchen the next day she's listening official she's cooking I wish we were we're I listen to it on that weight on the airplane home the first whole first day the first thing you guys do when you got the car take them there Porter four thirty in the morning on on Thursday morning and I didn't know she got a bootleg from shop tour bus of fish pops in my concept my car broke his eyes that is dope set up and I just I I have a different feeling I yeah yeah I'm definitely T. painting freakin fish right now and for all y'all out there that know ya know and if you don't sorry he said this this weekend was a reaffirmation of of us and and what we're doing and the magic that %HESITATION happens it shows H. through us with us without us near us next to us around us by us yeah we're just recording what we see bad I'm sure from our little corner of yeah and and section one oh nine row twelve and then a you know it it's a pretty fucking astounding what happens at the shows I know that every crew as should have been but this is our site with the last thing we want I want to I cannot forget to mention just how generous beautiful and magical grant and Ali are granting stand if you have not listened to a grassy Livingston wins if you have not listened to grant Livingston that go back into the nose and throat catalog listen to that episode you will not regret it and then flash forward listen to grant Livingston and friends on apple music or wherever you get your music we were fortunate enough to see him I just happen that one day he would be when I came to visit we're sitting down talking and I was like Hey what do you play next grand he's like actually play tomorrow I think what they clearly played a pre show party tomorrow and I was like that's awesome wherein he S. I was stricken young my mom could afford that was about to do that but now it's such a instrumental part of my life no pun intended %HESITATION that helps me to lake know myself better it literally helps me know myself better and put all of my put myself back together literally helped me to put myself back together and I'm grateful that this age in any age I'm able to do it and I and I we we I Bobby Isley Aaron as I I'd love to have having seen this the transition with Melvin I want to be a heartfelt thanks to Tracy and Mike and pay in John for being the ones that CML never seen by all so happy the show was a fish show because it is it is it a happy it is showplace his party's on earth fuck yeah and it's all about love yeah man and so is no simple road and we love you guys and it's lovely to look it is always will be low now we'll be back next week with more stuff and things and in the mean time between now and then take care of each other you guys and smile at strangers C.
